With any new technology that promises better connections, I wonder two things: Will it really help make us more connected?  Will that connectedness bring us closer together or farther apart?

For years I’ve used my phone to keep tabs on nearly everything important in my life: my photos, my eating habits, my spending, my calendar, my exercise (or lack thereof). But, when my kids were in still in child care only two/three short years ago, there wasn’t a child care app to see how their days were going.

And I began to wonder: Is paper good enough? Do I really need to know everything going on with my kids, all the time? Is this making me an over-informed helicopter parent?!?!?

I asked myself these questions when MomentPath was first created. After thinking it over for a while, I couldn’t come to definitive “yes” or “no” answers. The answers weren’t clear, and so we set out to build MomentPath to answer all those questions in a way that truly brings parents, providers, and children closer together.

In 2015, 64% of American adults own a smartphone. With over 11 million children in daycare, those parents want require a child care application on their devices to see how their children are doing.

This puts providers in a bit of a pickle. As a parent, I want the teacher in my child’s classroom to update me with pictures and milestones, , but at the same time, I want the teacher fully engaged and involved in caring for my child as if she were her own. That seems like a pretty tough balancing act for the teacher. Maybe it is even an unrealistic expectation that teachers can accomplish both in a child care environment.

MomentPath helps providers and parents stay engaged during the day in a way that is minimally disruptive to the teachers as they conduct their classrooms. We can do this because we start with design. Every feature is crafted to create the best user experience possible so teachers can quickly log the important moments without disrupting the classroom.

Additionally, parents can choose the way they interact with MomentPath. As a parent, you decide how you want to consume real-time updates. If you want to know everything all the time, then you can do that. If you only really care about class announcements and photos, that’s easy too! There are a lot of factors that go into figuring out what the secret sauce is for each parent, but that’s what makes MomentPath such a unique and flexible child care app.
